The person behind the legend

Who they are

Rhogar is a bronze dragonborn captain with a sharp grin, a sharper sword, and a skyship that answers to no kingdom. Reckless tactics and contempt for orders ended his Valerian naval career, so he converted professional disgrace into smuggling, mercenary work, and occasional heroism. He began as the party’s transport. After Reese vanished, he rappelled into a mimic battle and became part of the front line.

Signature methods

How they fight

  • A shortsword cut followed by a point-blank crossbow bolt
  • Lightning breath lined through clustered enemies
  • Using the Storm Wraith itself as a weapon—hard turns, sudden drops, and emergency anchor stops
  • Rappelling into fights at the exact moment ordinary people would seek cover

Magic & stranger talents

What answers

  • Natural lightning breath
  • A crossbow modified to deliver lightning-like bolts
  • No love for formal magic, despite piloting a vessel powered by volatile crystals

What people remember

The incidents that became stories.

Heroism, poor judgment, private grief, public embarrassment—usually in combinations nobody planned.

  1. 01

Accepted five fugitives as passengers after meeting them in the Bent Coin.

  2. 02

Landed on Big Titty Demon Island because the Storm Wraith needed red crystals. This went badly in several dimensions.

  3. 03

Rappelled from the ship into the Shrine of the Three Hungers while the party was losing.

  4. 04

Won an airship battle by dropping anchor mid-flight and ruining the enemy boarders’ day.

Caught at the table

From the actual transcript

Things they genuinely said during play. Profanity, questionable plans, and all. Obvious transcription errors have been lightly cleaned; the wording has not been rewritten.

Session 13Arriving after the party had already survived the crystal monsters

My friends, now that I have rescued you from the great peril of these crystal monsters, tell me, where shall I steer us through this chaos?

Session 13Explaining the finer points of sky combat

My friend, naval combat is my strategy.

Session 13Revealing the strategy

We shall fly to the sun and blind our foes and see if they follow us, where they cannot see.

Session 13The strategy reaches its technical conclusion

Fire the cannons!

From the road

Notes in their own voice

Reconstructed from the surviving campaign record—not verbatim transcripts, but faithful to the person revealed at the table.

On command

The Navy called my maneuvers reckless. The Storm Wraith calls them why she is still flying.

The shrine

If you descend from the sky while everyone is nearly dead, they remember the entrance more fondly.

Cargo policy

Do not put unstable infernal crystals inside extradimensional luggage. This policy was written after the portal.

People in their orbit

No one adventures alone, despite repeated efforts.

The Storm Wraith

Ship, livelihood, home, and a recurring victim of the party’s cargo decisions.

Kaela Voss

Trusted enough for private conversation, though their professions ensure every conversation contains leverage.

General Thornvale

Former superior and a man who would reportedly prefer Rhogar hanged to pardoned.

Where the record stands

Alive in Vaelthalas. The Storm Wraith survived the Golden Minotaur attack but remains damaged.
