The person behind the legend

Who they are

Reese joined Grenak on the road through a shared interest in killing demons and drinking afterward. He rarely volunteers his past, but he carries a speaking Rapier of Warning and fights with the practiced hostility of someone accustomed to infernal things. He is skeptical, deadpan, and often the person quietly preventing the group’s nonsense from becoming theft, murder, or both.

Signature methods

How they fight

  • A rapier slash followed by green fire leaping to another target
  • Placing a personal curse on the enemy he intends to dismantle
  • Using fear or darkness to control a crowd
  • Sharpening his talking sword while everyone else argues

Magic & stranger talents

What answers

  • Green-flame blade work
  • A fear spell capable of scattering a hostile crowd
  • Darkness used for concealment or escape
  • A pact-bound relationship with the sentient Rapier of Warning

What people remember

The incidents that became stories.

Heroism, poor judgment, private grief, public embarrassment—usually in combinations nobody planned.

  1. 01

Helped turn the Festival of Flame riot into a successful escape by terrifying the crowd.

  2. 02

Left gold behind when the party took food from Ashenvale, keeping the act technically outside theft.

  3. 03

Approached every talking skull, suspicious child, and convenient treasure chest with appropriate distrust.

  4. 04

Was seized by a red-crystal portal at the Shrine of the Three Hungers and vanished mid-adventure.

Caught at the table

From the actual transcript

Things they genuinely said during play. Profanity, questionable plans, and all. Obvious transcription errors have been lightly cleaned; the wording has not been rewritten.

Session 4Questioning a suspicious stranger's civic authority

Are you a fucking fire marshal?

Session 4The investigation escalates

Are you some kind of fucking cop?

Session 4The investigation concludes

He's a fucking cop!

Session 7Attempting to return the party to its stated mission

Do you guys want to kill big titty demons?

From the road

Notes in their own voice

Reconstructed from the surviving campaign record—not verbatim transcripts, but faithful to the person revealed at the table.

On taking supplies

I left gold. That makes it procurement. I will not debate this with people who sleep in the middle of roads.

On Sam the skull

The skull talked too much. This alone was not proof of evil, but it was a compelling start.

Last entry

Three chests. Three hungers. We fed each correctly. For once, the puzzle seemed satisfied. Then the altar opened.

People in their orbit

No one adventures alone, despite repeated efforts.

Grenak

Drinking companion, demon-hunting partner, and the person most likely to turn Reese’s grim work into a celebration.

The Rapier

A warning blade that speaks to him. Whether this improves decision-making remains disputed.

The Red Portal

The last known force to touch him. Its destination and purpose remain unknown.

Where the record stands

Missing since Session 11. The portal was created by corrupted red-crystal energy; no body or destination was found.
